Terrifying Fire Beast Who Will Bring About the End of All Things,[2] better known as Devil Dinosaur, is the deuteragonist of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. He is a some what of Tyrannosaurus Rex accidentally brought to modern-day New York City by a girl named Lunella Lafayette or he from another dimension as she created portal for other dimensions. Together with Lunella as Moon Girl, he contributes muscle, teeth, claws, cunning, and smell to defend New York as a superhero team.[3]

Biography

While testing an invention that she believed to be a power generator, Lunella Lafayette accidentally opened a portal in the fabric of space-time and Devil came through it. Devil exited Lunella's underground hangout and ran through the city. Lunella eventually caught up to him and earned his undying affection by feeding him some hot dogs.

After saving Casey Calderon from Aftershock, Lunella decided to combine her brain with Devil's muscle to become a superhero duo and protect the Lower East Side.

Appearance

Devil Dinosaur is a twenty-foot-tall[4] Tyrannosaurus, standing on two large hindlegs with small forearms, yellow eyes with square pupils, spiky eyebrows, and a small row of spines on his shoulders. As his name suggests, his scales are red and bears two spines on the back of his head reminiscent of horns. He also has black blotches on his thighs and backside, complemented with a light-colored underbelly.

Personality

He is shown to be playful, energetic, and friendly. As he loves Lunella and doesn't want to return to his home and likes to stay with her. He is also shown to have a big appetite for food, especially hot dogs. However, he can be tough and fierce when it comes to fighting villains, and he can sometimes be jealous if Lunella loves another creature, as shown in "Teacher's Pet".

Natural abilities

Abilities

  • Hailing from another dimension, Devil Dinosaur possesses naturally enhanced strength exceeding that of an average Earth Tyrannosaurus Rex, demonstrating superior physical lifting and combat abilities through head-butting, tail whips, kicks, ramming, and potentially powerful jaws (though the extent of the latter is unknown).  His natural strength allows him to defeat similarly sized monsters and shatter near-equal-sized boulders with his one-to-two-ton force tail whip.
  • Devil's roar is loud and powerful enough to be used as an offensive weapon and to perform tasks like blowing out building fires.
  • His exceptionally resilient skin withstood a devastating electric shock that left him teetering on the brink of unconsciousness or even death, an ordeal that forced Moon Girl to surrender in order to preserve his life. The recovery from this traumatic event took over a day, a testament to the severity of his wounds. In a separate, equally harrowing incident, he endured a barrage of laser blasts that sent him crashing to the ground, yet he summoned the strength to lash out with his tail and damage Moon Girl's machine, and with a Herculean effort, he managed to escape the laboratory mere seconds before it exploded.
  • English comprehension. Devil is able to understand what Lunella and others are saying without her translating it from English to Dinosaurese.
    • This includes literacy - he imagines signing his name "Devil" and also recognizes when Casey is writing CAS as an autograph, and panics and growls a warning, causing Casey to write MoonGirl overtop it.
    • Initially, Devil was not able to speak English because his mouth and vocal chords cannot form the proper sounds. However, in the "Theme Song Takeover" when Lunella asked him to take over for her while she was busy "Lunella-ing", you can hear him singing words that are very close to the English lyrics.
  • His tail is prehensile, allowing him to wrap it around a person or object or fling them in a direction with a "tail flip".
