"Family Matters" is the thirteenth episode of the second season of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and the twenty-ninth episode overall.
Synopsis[]
When Moon Girl teams up with the amazing superhero Turbo, she realizes the true cost of keeping up a secret identity.
Plot[]
Lunella once again arrives late for home where her family is disappointed that she could not come with them to get a personalized stuffed teddy bear that features a USB drive. Despite this, Lunella continues to work away at trying to divide her family time with her super heroics. Mimi explains that she is ready to come out to her family and that she should be too, but Lunella gets distracted by patrol time. While out, she encounters the superhero Turbo battling Silvermane, who wants to steal her armor. Silvermane escapes and despite Turbo reluctance, allows Lunella to help capture him for good.
Lunella, Devil, Casey, and Turbo patrol the city in an effort to find Silvermane, but with no luck. Turbo reveals that she became a superhero after having found her suit at a yard sale (just like Brian Glory). Lunella suddenly gets the idea to instead have Silvermane find Turbo and agree to a trap. Before Lunella can go out, she gets involves in game night with her family, but when she begins to act defensive, Lunella yells at her family and leaves. She eventually catches up with Turbo and together they catch Silvermane and deliver him to S.H.I.E.L.D. As they celebrate, Turbo reveals that she misses her mother, Erma, and waited too long to tell her that she was a superhero, resulting in the two not having spoken for years.
Silvermane escapes and captures Erma, forcing the heroes to chase after him. While Turbo has the opportunity to reveal her identity to her mother, she is unable to. Silvermane threatens to harm Erma, and Turbo allows him to take her suit. However, Lunella uses a USB drive to transfer Silvermane's consciousness into her teddy bear, allowing Silvermane to once again get imprisoned. Turbo thanks Lunella for her help while also getting thanked by Erma, who unfortunately still does not know she is her daughter. Having been changed by her experience and not wanting to break her family any further, Lunella returns home and decides to finally tell everyone the truth.
