James Lafayette Jr. is a main character in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. He is the husband of Adria Lafayette and father of Lunella Lafayette. An optimistic and unconventional businessman, James and his family run the roller skating rink Roll With It in New York City.[3]

James is a tall African-American man with warm-toned dark skin, a deep dark brown beard, and a short dark brown Afro with brown highlights.
Clothing
He mostly wears a short-sleeve black shirt with an imprint design of a light green and pink unicorn-like graphic with magenta highlights. He also wears grayish-blue jean pants, black high-top sneakers with turquoise highlights and magenta laces.
Occasionally, he also wears a similar black tee with the "Roll With It" logo imprinted, likely as his uniform.

Trivia
- In the comics, Mr. Lafayette is the father of Lunella Lafayette/Moon Girl. He was a hospital worker and was unaware of his daughter's vigilante identity. Although the character is named James in the animated series, Mr. Lafayette's name was not given until the first issue of the 2022 Moon Girl & Devil Dinosaur run, in which his name is confirmed to be James like his animated counterpart.
- It is revealed in "Teacher's Pet" that James is allergic to hamsters.
- The appearance of James' head and hair is close to that of his voice actor, Jermaine Fowler, possibly being modeled after him.
- After The Molecular Level, James now knows of Lunella's identity as Moon Girl and is made aware of Devil Dinosaur's presence.
