"Kid Kree" is the fifth episode of the second season of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and the twenty-first episode overall.

It premiered on February 17, 2024 on Disney Channel.[1]

Synopsis[]

Moon Girl’s rivalry with a new teenage super-foe, Kid Kree, threatens her budding friendship with his human alter ego, Marvin.

Plot[]

Casey tells Lunella that she is sometimes hard to listen to because she has a habit of doing nerd-speak and that she needs to find someone similar to her. She encounters a strange boy named Marvin Ellis who seems stand-offish. LOS-307 assigns Lunella to lead Marvin around the school, but she finds him weird. During PE, she learns that he also likes to get out of participating so that he can focus on science projects, just like her. The two immediately hit it off, but unbeknownst to her, Marvin is really the Kree child Mel-Varr, whose father, Pad-Varr, sent him to Earth to capture Moon Girl to prove his worth. He doesn't realize that Lunella and Moon Girl are the same though.

While patrolling with Devil, Lunella encounters Marvin as "Kid Kree" and the two proceed to battle one another, each fight ending in a draw. Casey continues to push Lunella and Marvin together as "soul-nerds" and they begin to work on a variety of projects together, one of which is a wrist band that creates a shield. While fighting one another, Marvin drops his communication device and Lunella claims it. With Casey's help, they break into it and learn that Marvin is really Mel-Varr and his mission to capture Moon Girl. Angered by this, Lunella answers a call from Pad-Varr and tells him that she "threw [Mel-Varr] to the curb", before leaving to prepare for dinner with Mel-Varr whom she'd invited before knowing the truth.

The dinner is awkward with Mel-Varr learning that Lunella and Moon Girl are one and the same. He explains that his father has high expectations for him and Lunella realizes she made a mistake. She chases him towards his ship where she and Devil battle Pad-Varr before Mel-Varr stops everyone. He explains that he genuinely likes Lunella and that he does not want to do what his father tells him. Pad-Varr is impressed with his technical skills and decides to let Lunella and Devil go. Lunella and Mel-Varr finally part ways as friends with the latter giving the former a communication device so that they can stay in touch.
