"Like Mother, Like Moon Girl" is the eleventh episode of the first season of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and the eleventh episode overall.
It premiered early on Disney+ and officially premiered on April 1, 2023.[1]
Synopsis[]
Moon Girl becomes the face of a new initiative to revitalize the Lower East Side, but the effort starts to drastically change her neighborhood for the worse.[1]
Plot[]
Lunella Lafayette becomes the face of a new initiative to revitalize the Lower East Side in New York City. She is thrilled to have been selected by Mr. and Mrs. Muzzler, a pair of inventors who promise to use their technology to improve the area. However, as the initiative progresses, Lunella realizes that the Muzzlers’ plans are not what they appear to be.
Initially, the Muzzlers’ efforts seem to be paying off. They install new streetlights, remove graffiti, and launch a food truck program. However, Lunella soon notices that something is amiss. The neighborhood is becoming sterile and lifeless due to the new technology. Graffiti artists are disappearing, food carts are being replaced by chain restaurants, and the sense of community is dissipating.
Lunella’s mother, Adria, confronts Moon Girl, expressing her disappointment that she did not help the neighborhood prosper but instead wiped away its culture. Ironically, Adria does not realize she’s speaking to her daughter, and her words cut Lunella deeply.
Determined to make things right, Lunella teams up with her mother and the community to stop the Muzzlers before it’s too late.
In the end, they succeed in defeating the Muzzlers and saving the Lower East Side.
