Maris Morlak is a villain in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, serving as the main antagonist of the final two episodes of Season 1: "OMG Issue #1" and "OMG Issue #2 and the final antagonist of Season 1. He is the leader of the villainous organization known as the Enclave, who seeks to use the power of Moon Girl's portal generator to unleash an army of monsters from another dimension.
History[]
Many years ago, Morlak was a scientist with a branch of the space program known as The Enclave, using his skill with schematics to create a portal generator that would revolutionize space travel by allowing people to travel across space in an instant. However, on the day the scientists were to present the project to their government superiors, the lead scientist tried to erase the part that Dr. Morlak and another black scientist, Moon Girl, played in the creation of the portal generator.
Dr. Morlak was easily able to prove the part that he and Moon Girl played as the lead scientist lacked the knowledge to make the machine work. Moon Girl was hesitant because the machine hadn't been tested yet, but Morlak was insistent.
When he turned the machine on, it opened a portal to another dimension and the tentacle-arms of some kind of monster came out of it, grabbing everyone in the room, except for Morlak and Moon Girl, and pulled them through the portal never to be seen again. The lead scientist begged Morlak to save him, but he just smiled and let him be taken.
Morlak was elated, believing that with a portal across the multiverse, no one would ever be able to erase them, but Moon Girl believed it was too dangerous and that Morlak had lost his mind, so she destroyed the portal, stole the blueprints, and disappeared off the face of the earth. Morlak spent decades trying to recreate the portal, but without Moon Girl's coding, the task proved impossible.
In the modern day, Morlak detected that his portal generator had been rebuilt and used the energy signature to find a young superheroine known as Moon Girl, who he later found out was the original Moon Girl's granddaughter.
He tried to take the portal generator that she had built, but she destroyed it before he could, so he had to settle for the next best thing, kidnapping the two Moon Girl's so that he could build a new portal generator. The new Moon Girl escaped, but the original chose to stay a prisoner, knowing that Morlak now knew about her family where they lived.
Moon Girl helped Morlak to rebuild the portal generator and he used it to summon a group of monsters that he was able to control using a special dog whistle that he invented by studying the DNA of the tentacled monster that came out of the first portal decades ago.
Thanks to a rescue party led by the new Moon Girl, they were able to defeat the monsters and send them back through the portal. Morlak, however, refused to give up and in his efforts to bring the monsters back, he caused the portal generator to overload, resulting in a vacuum portal that was pulling everything in.
Morlak begged for the original Moon Girl to save him. She did try, but despite her efforts, he fell into the portal before she could grab him.

He is African-American with dark skin, a long dark brown beard with grey highlights, and short dark brown hair with brown highlights, and a gray shave cut.
In his youth, he looked the same, however, his beard was fully dark brown, and his short hair was slightly bigger.
Clothing[]
He wears a blue vest coat with buttons, and blue pants. Underneath his coat, he wears a long light blue t-shirt with a light yellow tie. He also wears black glasses with blue lens, a dark blue coat, and black shoes.
In his youth, he wore a black sweater, a white lab coat, red-brown pants, and black shoes. He also had black glasses with clear lens.

- In the comics, Maris Morlak is a scientist and member of the Enclave, a team of four scientific adventurers with him going under the alias Crucible. Among the creations Morlak and his associates made were the celestial super-beings Adam Warlock and Ayesha.
