"Shoot for the Moon" is the twenty-fourth episode of the second season of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and the fourtieth episode overall. It is the series finale.
Synopsis[]
Moon Girl must make a life-changing decision.
Plot[]
Lunella begins to fantasize about life with S.H.I.E.L.D., but is now caught in a crossroads about her future. While at a special event celebrating the reformation of past Moon Girl villains, Lunella begins to wonder if the L.E.S. will survive without her. After getting a mysterious call at a break in, Lunella and Devil stop crocodile villain Slime Tooth and knock him out. They learn that he had a detonator for a bomb that is still active and locate it down to New Jersey. Despite Lunella and Devil's apprehension about the Garden State, they find that it is a wonderful place and Lunella starts to feel that maybe the L.E.S. can survive without her.
Lunella locates the bomb and with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s help, manage to disarm it. However, the real villain Decoy reveals herself. She wanted to lure Moon Girl away from the L.E.S. so that she can break into the secret weapon armory under the L.E.S. Distracting them with goo, Decoy manages to break in and steals the Athena Ray, a staff that can create digital copies of herself and wrecks havoc all across the L.E.S. By the time Lunella and Devil manage to make it, they are unable to fight back due to the abundance of Decoy clones. Just as Lunella is at her lowest, the reformed villains (Quickwhip, Odessa, Instananegirl, Blue Streak, and Abyss) arrive to aid Lunella.
Lunella and her allies manage to finally defeat Decoy and arrest her, saving the L.E.S. Nick Fury shows up to personally congratulate Lunella on a job well done. Realizing that she does not need to balance saving the world on her own, Lunella agrees to finally join S.H.I.E.L.D. Lunella says her goodbyes to her family, who proudly see her off. As she makes her way to the airport, in costume, everyone is there to also say their goodbyes with the reformed villains promising to look after the L.E.S. for her. Lunella and Devil board the plane with Nick Fury and venture off to unknown adventures as Beyonder signs off with "You go, Moon Girl!"
