"I'm from way, way beyond time and space!"
―The Beyonder[src]

The Beyonder is a character in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. A mercurial and omniscient entity, the Beyonder is a comedic trickster who knows little about humans.[2]

History[]

Origin[]

The Beyonder is a member of an extraordinarily powerful species from beyond time and space. He is tasked to study planets and their population, eradicating them if he deems them unnecessary. When he was sent to Earth, the Beyonder sought the smartest person on the planet, Lunella Lafayette, to help him understand humanity.[3]

Meeting Lunella[]

After observing Lunella from behind the scenes, he reveals himself to her, Devil Dinosaur, and Casey Calderon but she interrupts him before he could explain his job. While venting about Eduardo, Lunella accidentally convinces the Beyonder to erase humanity. Lunella protests and the Beyonder promises to spare them if she wins an upcoming science fair with Eduardo, her "useless" partner. At the fair, the Beyonder turns Lunella's project into pickles for doing it without Eduardo, forcing her and Eduardo come up with a last-minute project together. It fails and the Beyonder makes Lunella believe he has erased humanity; however, he then reveals it was an illusion he was doing to mess with her. He explains that watching Lunella and Eduardo both contribute to create something satisfied him. The Beyonder then leaves, but affirms that he is going to continue watching humanity.[3]

Appearance[]

Physical appearance[]

The Beyonder is a shapeshifter. His main appearance is that of a tall, slender man with black and orange skin. He has turquoise hair, turquoise lips, and blue eyeshadow with no pupils or irises. He has black streaks on his chin that resemble facial hair.

Clothing[]

The Beyonder wears a tight-fitted white, black, and light blue suit, and black boots.

Personality[]

"Funky? Yes. Wizard? No."
―The Beyonder[src]

The Beyonder is curious and mischievous, but also an impish and self-centered trickster. All-knowing and all-powerful, Beyonder is brilliant when it comes to the makeup of matter and the universe, but he is clueless about humans.[2]

The Beyonder is flamboyant and lively, enjoying musical numbers, but he is also extremely dangerous. As a higher being, he has no qualms about endangering or ending the lives of lower lifeforms, even eradicating entire planets that do not meet his standards. However, he is willing to spare certain exceptional individuals, such as Lunella Lafayette for her intellect. The Beyonder gets offended by the term "wizard" as he believes it undersells him.[3]
