"The Great Beyond-er!" is the first episode of the second season of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and the seventeenth episode overall. It serves as the Season 2 Premiere.

It premiered on February 2, 2024 on Disney Channel.[1]

Synopsis[]

Moon Girl and The Beyonder become stranded on a desolate alien planet; the two set out to find a rumored black hole in hopes of getting home.[2]

Plot[]

Lunella is pulled through the portal and flies through time and space. She is suddenly found by the Beyonder, who manages to pull her out. They both end up on another planet that according to Beyonder was once the most exciting theme park in the galaxy before getting completely destroyed, though he claims he has no idea how that happened. Lunella is furious and demands to be taken home right away, but Beyonder discovers that his powers somehow do not work. Lunella offers an alternate solution when she sees a giant black hole. They will create a spaceship that can move fast enough to send them through the black hole and hopefully back home.

An alien being on a pogo stick suddenly appears and attacks Beyonder, who is helpless without his powers. After Lunella saves him, the alien sends a signal out for other aliens to come who were troubled by Beyonder. Lunella continues to defend Beyonder from attackers, including an alternate Lunella and Devil Dinosaur named Devil Girl and Moon Dinosaur. Beyonder admits that he hopeless without his powers and wonders how Lunella is able to handle herself without them. As Lunella explains that she needs to believe in herself, she teaches Beyonder how to braid hair. A rejuvenated Beyonder happily helps Lunella as they find parts for a ship and quickly build it.

Lunella and Beyonder find a launchpad for their ship, but before they can leave, a being called Molecule Man arrives and stops them. He reveals that years ago, Beyonder was playing intergalactic golf with meteors which resulted in the devastation of his planet. Lunella fights Molecule Man, but he becomes too much for her and entraps her. Beyonder steals Molecule Man's wand and turns him into a baby, frees Lunella and they escape the planet. Beyonder kicks Lunella off at her stop and she finds herself back at the lab with Mimi, Casey and Devil. Lunella learns that she was only gone for 2 hours (she was gone for days) and happily returns home, though she hides the fact that she was traumatized by her experience with Molecule Man.

During the credits, a piece of Lunella's clothing is seen on a spoke blowing in the wind, when an ominous shadow stands over it.
