"The Molecular Level" is the fourteenth episode of the second season of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and the thirtieth episode overall.
Synopsis[]
After Lunella tells her family that she’s Moon Girl, she must convince them she will be safe, which seems impossible when Molecule Man shows up for revenge.
Plot[]
Lunella finally tells Adria, James Jr., and Pops that she is Moon Girl, which they laugh at until they see Devil from the window. The three are baffled, especially when they learn that Mimi already knew. James Jr. tries to swallow the news, Pops is excited, even offering to be her sidekick, while Adria is both proud and terrified of the news. Lunella puts together a chart explaining how she has been able to keep up with her double life and admits that she was worried about how they would react. She adds that besides them, Casey and Mel-Varr are the only two who know her identity. This is immediately shattered when Molecule Man bursts through the wall.
Unable to find the Beyonder, Molecule Man decides to take his anger out on Lunella and her family instead. He destroys the apartment with the adults trying to rescue Lunella, despite her being more than qualified to handle it. During the skirmish, Mimi reveals that she was once a scientist, also shocking the family. They use their science know how to fight Molecule Man, but he is too much and traps Lunella and her family in the apartment. He threatens to harm the Lafayettes as everything he loved was taken away and wants Lunella to feel the same. Lunella feels hopeless until Devil manages to get her suit to her, allowing her to become Moon Girl.
Lunella finally strikes back at Molecule Man and has the Lafayettes escape. Using her science knowledge, Lunella breaks down Molecule Man more and more, but does not kill him. Lunella shows sympathy and hopes to redeem him as Molecule Man shows deep regret and remorse for all of his actions that his anger attempted to destroy her home. Molecule Man apologizes to her as he was too focused on making others feel his pain of losing everything, he lost sight of everything when he destroy Lunella's home. Using a piece of her self healing suit, she uses it to heal Molecule Man who sees the error of his ways and decides to rebuild his world, while also fixing the apartment and leaves. Lunella checks on her family who are all happy to have Devil be apart of their lives now. Adria congratulates Lunella on her heroics as she not only is the bravest, strongest, and smartest person she has ever met, but also becoming the most kind, compassionate, and wise as she is now becoming everything a super hero should be. Everything seemed to work out perfect in the end, but suddenly she orders her to never do any of it again, shocking Lunella and the rest of the Lafayettes, leaving her superhero identity along with New York in complete jeopardy.

- This was originally going to serve as the finale for the second season before 10 more episodes were ordered. This episode also serves as the finale of the first part of the season.[1]
